about the project
The Scarborough Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC), located along the scenic Esplanade in Scarborough, integrates thoughtful design with the natural beauty of its coastal setting. Designed by Hames Sharley and built by Georgiou, the facility incorporates premium materials, including Pacific Teak timber, to create a striking yet functional space that endures the challenges of seaside living.
The use of Proplank 40×20 Pacific Teak battens, Screenplank 85×20 Pacific Teak screening, and Trendplank 120×18 Pacific Teak cladding not only enhances the club’s architectural aesthetic but also ensures long-term durability. Pacific Teak is known for its natural resistance to the corrosive effects of saltwater, making it ideal for the harsh coastal environment. These timber elements blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, adding warmth and texture to the modern design.
The combination of these high-quality timber products reflects the club’s mission to cultivate a healthy, active community while offering a sustainable solution to withstand the coastal climate. The timeless beauty of Pacific Teak complements the functional needs of the SLSC, creating a space that is both resilient and inviting for members and visitors alike.
